Continuing our extremely well received author series, the Friends of the Library were delighted to welcome over 120 members and guests to the Rourk Library for two presentations by Lynn Cook Betz, local author of My Right Hand to Goodness. Betz and local celebrity “Crazy Dale Varnam” mesmerized those gathered with hair-raising accounts of drug trafficking and high crime pervasive along our coast in the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s. A surprise guest, Sam Curran, a former federal prosecutor, later appointed a superior court judge, joined Lynn and Dale. In his role as prosecutor, he led the Colcor and Bruscor corruption investigation called Operation Gateway.
