A Day to Remember: Lucky Diaz Brings Joy to Rourk Library

In April, the Rourk Branch Library was filled with music, laughter, and joyful storytelling as Grammy award-winning author and performer Lucky Diaz brought his book Paletero Man to life for local children.

With his guitar in hand and a room full of smiling faces, Lucky serenaded young patrons of the library with a spirited rendition of his award-winning story. His visit wasn’t just about entertainment—it was about building community, sparking imagination, and showing children that books can sing. Lucky moved on to Supply, NC where he entertained students at the Supply Elementary School.

📚 Each child received a copy of Paletero Man to take home—personally signed by the author.

For many children, this was their first experience meeting an author in person—a memory that will stick with them for years to come. Seeing their eyes light up during the performance, dance and watching them proudly carry their signed books home, reminded us why community-supported literacy events are so powerful.
